The project provided support to community buildings in 4 areas: Marketing, Cohesion, Funding and Environmental Sustainability. This booklet summarises the key messages from each of the areas. Eric Pickles and Iain Duncan Smith have announced plans to do more to get some of England’s hardest to help families back to work. The communities and work and pensions secretaries are to more than double the number of specialist employment advisers in the government’s expanded Troubled Families programme. The number of welfare to work specialists seconded from Jobcentre Plus directly into councils’ troubled families teams will go from 150 to over 300 from April this year as part of efforts to turn around the lives of up to 400,000 tough to tackle households.

A new publication from NHS England is a great new tool to make the case to commissioners.
Bite-size Guide to Grants aims to support clinical commissioners to better understand grants and can be used in your work with CCGs. It outlines the benefits and principles of providing grant funding for the voluntary sector and suggests practical steps for commissioners about using grants to support priorities.
NHS England worked with some of the strategic partners, including NAVCA, to produce the guide. It has been published alongside a non-mandatory grant agreement which CCGs are able to use and adapt. NHS England has said that they are committed to working with voluntary sector partners to develop this agreement over the coming year and to publish other resources to support commissioners to work with the sector.
