Voluntary Organisation Support Officers (VOSOs)

When new groups or organisations first contact BCVS it is to one of our VOSOs that they are usually directed. With many years experience of working in or with the Voluntary and Community Sector our VOSO team of Lincoln Oakley and Clive Whittaker will bring their expertise and knowledge to bear to help you with any issues or development needs that your group has.

The importance of face-to-face support

We hope that the resources section of this website provides a comprehensive array of policies, guidelines and pieces of advice to help your group with all those issues that crop up from time to time as you deliver your services and activities. And of course there are many other websites out there. But we know that in many cases nothing can rival the precision and quality of support that you get from a face-to-face conversation with a friendly and well-informed development worker. Sometimes you may not even be clear exactly what it is that your group needs in order to progress - to secure funding, for example - and here a conversation with one of our VOSO team can be especially helpful. They can work with you to clarify and explore your needs and requirements and come up with a plan for achieving your aims.

Charges for the VOSO Service

Changes in the way that the VOSO service is funded from April 2015 mean that we must begin to charge for some of these services. We want to make the new charges as fair as possible so the amount of free help your group can get will depend on its annual income as stated in its most recent annual accounts. Your free hours are calculated annually, from the start of each financial year. You can contact us at any time to find out how much support you are entitled to.
